How To Get Involved

There are so many ways to get involved in the Public Health Garden!  Here are some of our suggestions:

1. Attend a Public Event: Check the calendar for activities, workshops, festivals, speakers, service days and other volunteer events that are open to the public.  Please note that sign-ups might be required, so read the event details carefully and sign up if necessary.

2. Attend a Meeting: We will hold a garden meeting on the first Thursday of every month at 5 pm in the garden (until the weather gets too cold) to discuss garden activities, upcoming events, and other garden business.  Come by to learn how you can get more involved.

3. Become a Garden Member: If you are currently a student, staff, or faculty member at the University of Maryland, you can become a garden member by signing up with us on a work-day at the garden and attending a training session.

4. Work with us!  Once you are a garden member you can come to a garden work day.  Garden work days will include small projects, planting, harvesting, watering, and more- all with your new friends in the garden! Open work hours for the Spring 2012 semester are currently: Thurs 4-6 with a "rain date" on Mon 4-6 (check blog and facebook for updates).  If you want to schedule some other hours to work, get in touch with us at publichealthgarden@gmail.com

5. Join the Leadership Team: If you are like us and can't get enough of the Public Health Garden, check out our About Us page for positions for which we are actively recruiting or come up with your own and contact us with your ideas.  We would love to have you working with us to help our garden grow.

We can't wait to see you at the garden! Please email us with questions, concerns, and ideas at publichealthgarden@gmail.com.
